OUR BIO PAGE

We wanted a way to show our website visitors that our dogs are not just flyball athletes but, also our lifelong pets.
Some of our dogs are from "Rescue", and as they may not have puppy pictures, but they certainly lead happy, fulfilled lives now.
Just click on a name, and we hope you enjoy our dogs, and "bio's", as much as we do.

The DoubleJJ Pack:

Tessa Glorine

Breed: Border Collie
Owners: Judy Hagan and Jim Sova
Titles: FD, FDX, FDCH, FM, FMX, FMCH, ONYX, FGDCH
Points: 31,976

Our oldest dog, after JJ passed. When we used to practice at a church basketball inside court, Tessa used to have the fastest time down & underneath all the chairs they had lined up. She finally came around. She was a wild woman at flyball, but a "behind the chair hider" at home when the doorbell rang. She one time herded our horses across water, when a levee broke. It was at a tournament one time between races, when a couple who had brought there 2 yr old toddler and she started herding him. It was so funny, the kid thought he was running away from Mom And Dad. Tess would turn him, and when he looked up he had ran straight back to Mom. Of course that isn't what he wanted, so he'd turn around and run away again, as toddlers so often do. Tessa would be there. Caught all on tape. Sometime in 1994, I believe at Henry, Illinois.

The Soaring Blue Eagle

HEIGHT DOG
Breed: Mix
FIRST dog in Iowa to achieve 40,000 points.
Dislikes: Flies/she will stop anywere to chase them, even while racing.
Handler: Jim Sova
Titles: FD, FDX, FDCH, FMX, FMCH, ONYX, FGDCH, FG40K
Points: 48,281

Blue is a mix, who is a dog we got back in 1993. She got her FD Flyball title in February of 1994. Was a needed height dog for our team. The day I got her was a day I was going to a Horse sale. I had planned to stop to look at some Cocker Spaniel/Border Collie mix puppies.

On the way to the horse sale, I took a back road (a gravel road for those not in Iowa), when to my surprise, I happened to spot an Eagle perched on something in the corn field next to the road. I was less then 12 feet away (4 meters) and stopped to view it. Its wingspan had to be more then 6 feet (2 meters) tip to tip.

Even as I rolled my passenger side window down, it wouldn't fly away. I finally left it, wishing I had a camera. I swear it was an omen from the Heaven's above...It was still perched there in all its glory, when I pulled away. At the sale barn was a litter of pups, from which I picked "Blue" out. Her parents were an Aussie, and a small Border Collie who I now believe wasn't full blooded and had some Beagle in her. I swear Blue is not a Beagle, but this is the story of how she got her name.

To best describe her, she could wear a sign around her neck that says "Have Food Will run for anybody"

Cajun

Breed: Catahoula
from Louisiana
Handler: Jim Sova
Titles: FD, FDX, FDCH, FM, FMX, FMCH, ONYX
Points: 26,443

First Catahoula in US to get the Onyx flyball title and the First Catahoula to get AgI and AgII UKC titles, Tried on herding, but pouted to much after being scolded about chomping on the sheep. As a puppy the first morning I had her, Judy and I were in Louisiana, south of Baton Rouge staying with a friend. As I went outside with Cajun at approximately 6 am, with a cup of coffee to spend some quiet time by ourselves. She found a huge, hard shell beetle within three minutes. With no hesitation, it was chomp, chomp, and swallow. The beetle was about three inches long, and she was 6 weeks old. No fear. The "Love Kiss", I got from her from excitement at a tournament, after she was grown, at a tournament is another story. Likes to whine when excited.

Louisiana Belle

Breed: Catahoula
from Louisiana
Handler: Judy Hagan
Titles: FD, FDX, FDCH, FM, FMX, FMCH, ONYX
Points: 28,700

Three days younger then Cajun, but not a litter mate. Has her Onyx flyball title also, and on her way to getting her FGDCh flyball title before Cajun. Belle is an extremely straight legged Catahoula. Likes to greet people at the door with a shoe in her mouth.

Zip

Breed: Border Collie
Titles: FD, FDX, FDCH, FM, FMX, FMCH, ONYX, FGDCH
Points: 41,978

Our big boy of the group.

Xena

Breed: Border Collie
Points: 11,485
Titles: FD, FDX, FDCH, FM, FMX

Tyrone

Rescue: Mix
HEIGHT DOG
Points: 50
Titles: FD
Likes: chasing balls, dogs, horses, his tail

Tyrone is the newest addition to our pack. He is a Boinger dog. He stands on the steps and goes "Boing, Boing, Boing", with his head showing over the top of the gate each time. Can keep it up longer than I can keep saying it. He used to bounce off the box in a similiar fashion and treated the 8" jumps as if they were 14", as he would rather be in the air, rather than on the ground. He has come a long way. He now has a great swimmers turn, when he wants, & easily runs his 11" jumps.

Lana's Pack

Nellie

Breed: Border Collie
Titles: FD, FDX, FDCH, FM, FMX, FMCH, ONYX, FDGCH
Points: 39,717
Owner: Lana J. Groom
Handler: Everyone but my Mom
DOB: July 17, 1996
Nick Names: Smelly Nellie, "A", Missouri Inbred Border Collie
Special Talents: Insane barking when someone says "Kitty, Kitty"
Favorite Foods: Ice cream, dead animals
Favorite Toys: The SPIDER toy, broom
Favorite Activities: Swimming, playing in the mud, running away from my owner, chasing cats
Ultimate Goal in Life: Getting my sister "Dixie" in trouble

History: I was born west of Kansas City, Missouri in 1996. I had 5 brothers and sisters. Some wonder if we were part racoon. I have lived in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and now Wisconsin. I went to obedience school (didn't help) and agility. Pretty much had the run of the show until I was 3 years old and then my "sister" Dixie showed up. What a drag. My first flyball tournament was in Omaha, NE. in 1999. It was such fun running out of the ring and right out the door. Learned quickly that wasn't acceptable and have been going to tournaments ever since.

Dixie
Breed: Border Collie
Titles: FD, FDX, FDCH, FM, FMX, FMCH, ONYX, FDGCH
Points: 33,589
Owner/Handler: Lana J. Groom
DOB: July 20, 1999
Nick Names: Dixie Doodle, Dixie Chick, Possum Mouth Retriever, "B", Skippy
Special Talents: Insane barking when someone says "Kitty, Kitty" (my sister "Nellie" taught me that)
Dance the "Cha Cha" while waiting for the ball to be thrown.
Favorite Foods: Anything that I am NOT suppose to have.(especially garbage)
Favorite Toys: Tennis ball, of course, and anything that I can tug with. Favorite Activities: Swimming, chasing balls from the tennis ball thrower, frisbee, chasing the horsewhip.
Ultimate Goal in Life: To grow hair so I can look like a "real" Border Collie.
Proudest Accomplishment: Running faster than my sister "Nellie"

History: I was born in Kremmling, CO. in 1999. I had 5 brothers and sisters. My Mom and Dad actually had jobs working cattle on ranches. I arrived in Iowa when I was 7 weeks old. At this point, I was forced to have a new sister named "Nellie", who is also a Border Collie. She is crabby and doesn't play well with others. I broke my right hind leg when I was 4 months old, so I have one leg shorter than the other, thus the name "Skippy". I went to obedience school (can't tell now), agility, and learned how to herd sheep. My first flyball tournament was in Rockford, IL. in 2000. I have lived in Colorado, Iowa, and now Wisconsin.

Jim C's Pack

Ike
Breed: Australian Shepherd
Pan/Handler: Jim Christenson
Titles: FD, FDX, FDCH, FM
Points: 6,784
Accomplishments: Ike holds world record for fastest dog disposal of dog biscuits and other assorted goodies, including pig ears. He is very adept at disrupting tournaments, intimidating smaller dogs (except Archie & Seamus-two team tough dogs), and excessive barking. Ike's flyball speed is unimpressive. Ike learned to bark, run and eat dog biscuits with only a minimum of formal training. Ike's handler Jim, does not believe in working and therefore is a welfare recipient. Ike and Jim are very compatible and currently hold the coveted title of Team Underachievers. Our version: Accomplishments Jim is retired Holds the world record for being able to remember the most jokes Holds the club title of best sense of humor Ike is a solid flyball dog that runs with very few to no errors Is the best buddy to Jim

Annettes Pack

Kia
Breed: one-of-a-kind (thank goodness!)
Age: 4 y.o. going on 6 months
Fondest wish: A rascally rabbit of my very own...
2nd fondest wish: A _real_ agility handler. Mom's okay at flyball, but man does she stink at agility. Guess I'll have to keep training her.
Titles: FD, FDX, FDCH, FM
Points: 8,572
Owner/Handler: Annette Flugstadt

I first saw Mom in April of 1999. Mom came in with Dad, Uncle Dewayne, and Grandma and Grandpa. They walked by the room I was in, and Grandma said that I was the dog for Mom. They went and looked at all the other dogs, but it was me they took home that Saturday (Way to go Grandma!). Turns out Sunday was Mom's birthday and I was her birthday present. Took them several days to name me though. Originally I was named Juliette at the shelter, but anyone who knows me knows that Juliette is way too girlie a name for me. Mom and Dad tried, "Carrot" for my reddish orange markings - not quite right; "Puck" for my mischevious personality - sounded too much like something ELSE; finally it was "Kio" on the way home. It stood for Knock It Off. Mom said that really my name was "no, no bad dog," but it took too long to say. Then when they kept trying to call me Kio, Kia kept coming out and it sounded more feminine anyway. Now Mom and I play flyball... which I LOOVE! Run, jump, bark, and best of all BALLS! I LIVE for balls. What a great sport. I also get to run and play with all my Hawkeye Hustler teammates. They all love me (except Ike). The human members all seem to love me too! I can't get enough attention from all of them. Now Mom and I are also working on agility. I'm pretty good at it, but Mom needs work. I live in Iowa City with Mom, Dad, and a little fur-sister Pooh Bear. Pooh Bear is old (16 y.o. Pomeranian mix) and doesn't play much with me, but I love her anyway. I let her do whatever she wants and when she wants to play, we make Mom and Dad laugh at all our antics. Now all I want is another little fur-sister to romp and play with... Mom, Dad, whaddya think?

Annie's Pack

Ruckus
Breed: Mix 3/4 Border Collie 1/4 Border Terrrier
HEIGHT DOG
Points: 7,104 Titles: FD, FDX,FDCH, FM
Birthday: June 15, 2001
Handler: Annie Taylor
Nicknames: Rabid Ruckus, Psycho Dog, Studmuffin
Special Talents: Breaking Jumps
Favorite Foods: Cheese Popcorn, Pancakes, Scrambled Eggs, Jalapeno Peppers
Favorite Toys: Tennis Balls,Tug Ropes, anything that Squeaks especially at midnight! and Simon-Grandma and Grandpa's ShihTzu
Favorite Activities: Flyball of course-Attacking Lacey and Simon, anything that proves I can run faster than my sister Lacey, sleeping especially on Mom's heated blanket, sticking my head out the window of the car no matter how cold or how fast we are going and cuddling.
Ultimate Goal in Life: To see how many of Jim's Jumps I can break, see if I can eventually get back at Tyee for antagonzing me and sleeping as much as possible.
Proudest Accomplishment: Getting Mom to bring me home from Canada and getting Grandma and Granpa to love me in spite of my pyscho dog nature.

History: When we went to Canada for Border Patrol's tournament we were in need of height dogs. Lynda Verna had us meet a dog that was not working out for their team and the rest is history. I loved Ruckus from the moment that I met him. He has been a great 12" height dog for our team and has been known to run 4.2 seconds. I am however convinced that he has multiple personalities. He can go from sound asleep snoring with all 4 feet in the air to maniac flyball dog in 3 seconds. But best of all he is a great nap dog !
